| Although
I have been a California resident for the last 26 years,
I never cease to be appreciative of Californias
beauty and diversity! It seems everywhere I look, I see
a painting! My subjects are varied, but are almost always
reminiscent of travels enjoyed or favorite places and
events. My paintings arent intended to convey profound
messages more the visual pleasures of my life.
I like to entertain the
viewer, with light and shadow, reflections and sunlit
warm places. I love to paint outdoors, trying to capture
the world of colors that nature offers, adding a few of
my own. What a wonderful freedom I have to alter the colors
and shapes as I choose, interpreting what I see. I also
enjoy the challenge of painting from my photos of travels,
as I try to reenact the moment and reinvent the image
as I remember it. |

| I
paint nearly every day in my new studio/family room in
Shell Beach, CA. I began a more serious art journey when
living in Fresno. There I studied with Milli Pepper, BJ
McCoon and Steve Norton. I was a member of The Door Art
Gallery, a group of nine Fresno artists, where I enjoyed
displaying and selling my paintings. I also studied graphic
arts at Fresno
City College and used this knowledge in designing posters
and logos for several local businesses. We moved to Shell
Beach in 1998 and I became involved in the local art community,
enjoying the friendships and benefits of the Watercolor
Society and the Oil, Pastel & Acrylic groups of the
San Luis Obispo Art Center and the El Camino Art Association. |

| In
2002, 2003 and 2004 I have participated in the Open Studio
Tour as well as the Open Studio Committee of the San Luis
Arts Council in 2003. I have taken workshops with Libby
Tolley, Dotty Hawthorne, Ann Templeton and Ken Auster.
I feel fortunate to live in such a scenic area surrounded
by so many talented artists! |
